Amsterdam is doing a great cleanup. Aided by the so called Bibob law it is removing owners of real estate in it's red light district that allegedly have dodgy business connections. Bibob which stands for law for advancement of integrity survey by the government (Wet Bevordering Integriteit Beoordelingen door het Openbaar Bestuur) was introduced june 20th 2002. One of the first big real estate owners in the Amsterdam red light district that was bought out was Charles Geerts who let rooms by the hour to the hookers of the Wallen District. Geerts is a friendly looking senior citizen who likes fishing at the water side but is also fond of a very wealthy lifestyle, doing part of his business from Central Africa ('because no time difference'). He was bought out of the Wallen area for approximately 25 million euros (39 million US dollar), which enables him to continue his luxurious fishing outings in Africa, keeping a helicopter on hand to get a bit of rest on a snow covered Kenia mountain top if the hot weather gets too much hold of him. Today one of our quality news papers had a feature article about Israeli origin Asaf Barazani, who is one of the next Bibob 'victims' at the Wallen. In the article Barazani states that he was pressed to sell his 100 million euros worth of posessions because of Bibob. Municipality of Amsterdam didn't see him fit to stay there because of his business connections. But guess what? Out of enough money to borrow anywhere else, they found someone trustworthy enough to borrow most of the required sum from... Barazani himself. At least according to Barazani's version, who add's that he is getting a steep 8 percent interest as well. If this is true I think I know the next Bibob victim all too well. If Amsterdam attacks the next Wallen mogul Bibob in hand, if he is really clever, they may get to taste some of their own cookies. Because he accidentally might know who in fact is the largest party in our capital with dodgy business contacts... HB (?2008, www.

This is a wrong world in dat opzicht.

Haha, dat is ook waar. Onderweg op zich al heerlijk. Als de bestemming dan n?g beter kan zijn....
